Sri M K Srinivasan
'Deśika-darśana-sevaka' Sri M K Srinivasan (1928-2019) took his post-graduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Madras. After a career in management in STC Limited and then MMTC Limited, he retired in 1981. In 2002, he obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Madras where his thesis was on Guru Sishya Bhava (Teacher-student interaction). After his retirement, he devoted his time and energy to the cause of education and health. He co-founded several institutions in the above mentioned fields such as (i) Modern Indian Educational Society (which administers the Modern Senior Secondary School), (ii) Hindu Mission Health Services (which provides health care at affordable rates), (iii) Sree Krishna Bhakta Jana Sabha (which maintains the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple) – all the above three organizations based at Nanganallur, Chennai, (iv) Sree Sanatana Vidya Seva Samiti (which extends scholarships to needy students) and (v) Harivilas Foundation (which assists institutions associated with culture and tradition and also grants financial assistance to students). Sri M K Srinivasan was also the President of Sri Vedanta Desika Research Centre, a non-profit organization founded by Seva Sri Srinivasa Raghavachariar, which is dedicated to publicize the teachings of Sri Vedanta Desika, an eminent preceptor of Visishtadvaita philosophy. In this capacity, Sri Srinivasan translated into English and Tamil several of Sri Desika’s hymns. During this time, he also delivered lectures on Srivaishnavism at Sree Malola Vageesa Vani, an educational centre devoted to the spread of that philosophy. From 2005 to 2008, he was also the Editor-in-Chief of the English edition of Sri Nrisimhapriya, the official journal of the Sri Ahobila Matham.
Sri M K Srinivasan has written some of the articles under pen-names such as Srivatsa, P P Srivatsa, A K Sathakopan and Melappalayam Srinivasan.
Smt Lakshmi Srinivasan
In addition to the above, Smt. Lakshmi was a regular contributor to several spiritual magazines like Sri Desika Seva, Anjali, etc., on varied themes of Visishtadvaita philosophy.
Usha Srinivasan
Ms Usha Srinivasan, daughter of Sri M K Srinivasan and Smt Lakshmi Srinivasan, is a freelance translator with a PhD in Sanskrit and a M.A in Srivaishnavism, both from the University of Madras. She has been instrumental in digitizing and cataloguing all the articles that appear on this website..
